The Heartbeat of ONE CHARGE
God does not only save us; He also sends us out to rule on His behalf. This is our one charge. The same God who lives in close relationship to us through covenant also calls us to the responsibility of representing Him by exercising the Kingdom authority and power He gives us.
We are charged to be ambassadors and emissaries who represent our King in the world. And as we live out this one charge by being in charge thanks to God’s authority and power, we will see God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

Session Outlines
Session One :: Visions of Greatness
Genesis 37:1-11
The point: Authority is a responsibility, not a reward
We begin our journey through Joseph’s life with his visions of greatness. While Joseph’s visions were God-given, he treated them as prizes for himself instead of a gift for others. We need to learn from Joseph’s mistakes and treat authority as a responsibility, not merely as a reward.
Session Two :: Depths of Despair
Genesis 37:17-36
The point: Brokenness opens the door to greatness
Joseph’s visions of greatness left him in the depths of despair. But we see in his story that brokenness like what Joseph went through is actually part of what helps us accept the one charge God gives us.
Session Three :: Glimmers of Hope
Genesis 39:20-40:23
The point: You’re not ready to rule until you surrender
Even in the depths of despair, there were glimmers of hope in Joseph’s story. As Joseph grew in humility and trust while he was in prison, he was actually becoming ready to rule. His example shows us that we’re not ready to rule until we surrender.
Session Four :: Seat of Power
Genesis 41:28-57
The point: Power positions us to give, not receive
When we finally receive the power and responsibility that come from living out the one charge God gives us, we face a choice. Will we be power-hungry and use our power to oppress and take advantage of others? Or will we live the way Joseph did and use our power to give instead of to receive?

About the Art
As the camera in the One Charge video pulls back, an everyman is revealed. If you aren’t familiar with an everyman, he (or she) is a literary and theatrical character that represents the ordinary individual… especially when the ordinary individual finds himself (or herself) in extraordinary situations.
We are everymen, and we find ourselves in the extraordinary situation of ruling on God’s behalf. As the camera pulls back further, the sheer magnitude of God’s kingdom, and of our one charge, becomes clear, as we see it in the light of God’s authority and power.
