Discipleship & Mission Workshops

Car Engine

More and more, people are realizing we are in the midst of a discipleship crisis in the United States which is largely responsible for the state of the American church. At the same time, there is a wave of excitement about the current missional movement that has been bubbling up in the last 10-15 years that many people are hoping will stop the bleeding. The fundamental issue, however, is that unless we are able to disciple people well like Jesus did, any missional movement is unsustainable.

Our general experience is that people are quite intrigued to hear how we’ve used things like Huddles (a discipleship vehicle) and Missional Communities (a missional vehicle) to see discipleship and mission come alive in their church communities, looking more and more like the churches we see in the New Testament. These workshops are a time to look at some of the things we’ve learned in the past 30 years, dealing with post-Christian contexts where as little as 1% of people attend church. You’ll receive teaching, discussion, breakout time with your team, a chance to actually experience Huddles and Missional Communities, worship and, location specific, perhaps even time at the beach. We intentionally cap the attendance for workshops at 150 so you have a large amount of access to the 3DM team and whatever expertise/experience we can bring to the table.

If you’re interested in seeing some different approaches to discipleship and mission, these workshops are a great place to enter into that discussion for you and your team.

How much does the workshop cost?

The workshops cost $149 with the 25% Early-Bird discount so make sure to register early. This covers your time with us, your materials and the two evening meals on the first and second days. You will be responsible for your own lunches. Accommodation is not included but we do look to negotiate competitive group rates with local hotels on your behalf wherever possible.

Who will lead the workshop?

The 3DM team will share the teaching and are all experienced practitioners in discipling, planting, leading, and multiplying Missional Communities and Huddles. Though our resources and models were initially explored in a European situation, the 3DM team have adapted the tools and methodologies in the United States over the last 10 years.

What will the workshop be like?

You will have a chance to hear teachings about discipleship and mission and how we are practically seeing those things worked out in local church contexts. You’ll get to experience Huddles and Missional Communities (rather than simply hear the theory). There will be large amounts of Q&A, consultations for your team with our team. Worship. Down time at the beach. It’s really a great mixture of work, rest, practice, theory and team time.

What to Expect from a Learning Community

The two year Learning Community track entails a carefully orchestrated process which progresses from discipleship to mission.A learning community is a series of 4-day immersion experiences that incorporates main stage teaching with tactical training, expert coaching, and a chance to experience proven vehicles for discipleship and mission. At the conclusion of each immersion experience, you will leave with a detailed six-month plan to accomplish the things you believe God has called your community to do. Furthermore, the two-year track includes weekly coaching calls for senior leaders, as well as access to our content. You will truly have everything we know at your disposal.

The trajectory of the Learning Community track:

Immersion 1: Building a Discipling Culture
Immersion 2: Multiplying Missional Leaders
Immersion 3: Launching Missional Communities
Immersion 4: Leading Kingdom Movements

In addition to these immersion experiences, content and coaching calls, the senior leader of your team will be invited to the annual Senior Leader and Spouse’s Retreat. This is always one of the highlights of our year.

The two-year Learning Community track consists of:

  • Four (4) four-day immersions that occur every six months. At each immersion, your team creates (through consultation and coaching) a six-month plan to implement in your own community.
  • Weekly coaching calls for the team leader between immersion experiences, with additional coaching available for an additional cost.
  • Two (2) annual senior leader and spouse’s retreats.
  • Access to all of our experience and resources.
  • Continued access and participation once the process concludes through Communities of Practice and other interactions.
