Invitation
You are asked in
You walk over the threshold
You are asked in
Into my head, heart and life
To sit, walk or stand.
It’s a risk, it’s a promise
I throw you the line that connects your world to mine
I throw you the hope that just around the corner someone cares enough to not leave you where you are.
I give you an invitation, a piece of colored cloth. I throw you a challenge, a line of living rope
I cheer you on
I cheer you up
I want to you to stand on my shoulders to see a horizon I can never know exists
I see you beginning to soar, a kite occasionally dipping back down, almost touching the ground again when the wind and courage fails.
Flying when the rush of air catches the fabric and you shoot quickly towards the sky tugging, wanting to be wise
You will go further and farther and forget, and that is good
You will go and hold a hand no more, for it will seem useless and old. So forget me but not the book
So ignore me but not the truths
So go away but not alone
And repay me by repeating the pattern until the sky is full
