Get into the Rhythm of Autumn
“Get into the rhythm of autumn.”
That’s what Starbucks is saying at the moment. Buy a pumpkin latte.
The marketing people of Starbucks frequently speak out loud, what is going on inside of us.
They come up with strap lines.
It made me smile when I saw it printed on a poster this morning while I was waiting for my vanilla latte.
I have been thinking and praying about rhythms.
I believe in rhythms. I work my life and those around me into rhythms.
There are already so many rhythms marching unknowingly through our lives to their own beat already. Things like the waves and tides.
Like the seasons, like the night and the day. Even the regular beat of our own heart is not decided by us but by it’s maker.
God designed us to be in rhythm.
To sometimes be fruitful to sometimes be pruned.
To rest to work, to rest to work.
If we were to really look into these ancient rhythms how much more productive and content would we be?
This month I will look into these. How we work. How we rest.
How can we be productive?
How can we dig deep when being pruned?
I love rhythms.
I love knowing as September arrives I can get a pumpkin scone and can dip it into my pumpkin latte with the smell of cinnamon and spice all around.
I love knowing I can return time after time to my place of rest and hear more clearly my Father’s voice.
