How do we ‘lighten the cart’ of the church?

If you’re on staff at a church and you’re thinking about discipling people, you quickly realize that you’re going to need more available time and space to do that. How can you ‘feed the horse’ when the ‘cart’ of the church is as heavy as it is?

In this short video, Dave Rhodes gives some food for thought on how we can ‘lighten the cart’ and ‘feed the horse.’

As a Young Adult Pastor and closely connected to our Youth Pastor, I’ve begun the process of ending series of teachings with something physically to engage with.
The Youth Group is finishing a series on Leadership tonight, and next week they may be leading out for our end of school year Pioneer Clubs bbq game night for the children.
If I taught a series to our College/Young Adults on helping the homelessness/materialism/widows and orphans/etc, could end the series by serving at a homeless shelter or passing out socks and lunches to the homeless in the city, etc.
Having ministered for about 9 years full time now, I just keep thinking Christians are equipped, like never before, in their minds. But getting their hands and feet engaged is tough. Any ways we can be working towards this will not only help lighten the load, but perhaps continue the struggle to build a discipling culture…
