How Has Discipleship Affected Your Student Ministry?

Wayfarer is how we equip leaders to put discipleship and mission back into the hands of students and young people. The Wayfarer Blog features posts from a variety of leaders from both the U.S. and Europe focusing on the unique challenges of teaching and training students and young adults in discipleship and mission. This post was featured on the blog a few days ago — a video testimony about a Wayfarer Student Ministry Workshop.

Last year, Caleb Mathis brought his youth group to Wayfarer Camp. In the months following, we’ve been privileged to meet his wife Janie and get to know them both as we serve at various 3DM/Wayfarer events. Below, Caleb shares his experience at the Wayfarer Student Ministry workshop in Atlanta, including learning hands-on, experiencing a youth program that empowers students to lead other students, meeting other youth ministers, and making a 6-month plan.

“The things I learned are changing the way I do youth ministry, and I’m beginning to see positive effects of that in my students. We have students leading other students for the first time, we have students leading in our children’s ministry for the first time; students are beginning to hear from God and be able to express that without feeling weird, and being able to follow through on what God’s telling them.”
